The Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic has had a massive impact on the race schedules right across New Zealand, and the SRAM Tour de Ranges is no exception.
The impacts of the pandemic have been wide reaching; and while there are no restrictions on holding events (presently) it has had a significant impact on the timing on the SRAM Tour de Ranges along with a number of other major cycling events - for a number of reasons.
But rather than cancel the race we decided to sit down with our event partners, a bunch of regular riders, and local council representatives to review the options and timings for 2021 and moving forward.
The overwhelming feedback was that we can make the event even better (and bigger) if we reschedule the event to the spring. So we are moving the event to Saturday October the 2nd.
This will allow you to use the event as prep for big rides like the Whaka 100 or Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge, it'll mean that your mates who may still be away on holiday over the Christmas / New Year break can take part, and that the roads will be a bit quieter around the stunning coastal roads that make the SRAM Tour De Ranges a must do race.
Participants that have entered prior to the 24th of November 2020 have been sent an email with their options.
