ROAD RULES
Always obey the road rules of New Zealand, including the Give Way and Stop Signs on course. Learn more here
ALL EVENT STAFF
Always pay attention to and act upon instructions given by course marshals, traffic management professionals and police.
PERSONAL SUPPORT VEHICLES
You Must NOT HAVE AN ACCOMPANYING VEHICLES ON THE COURSE; riders using such vehicles WILL be disqualified from the event.
THE START-LINE
Ensure you stay in the corrected seeded start waves that reflects your current ability.
HELMETS
Helmets must be fastened securely while cycling. Ensure it meets the New Zealand Safety Standards.
OVERLAPPING WHEELS
Don’t overlap another riders wheel. Ride behind or ride beside them.
PASSING OTHER RIDERS
Pass on the right, not the left. If you are passing a rider in front of you, say loudly “ON YOUR RIGHT”. If you are being passed you must keep your line.
INDICATE YOUR INTENTIONS
This lets riders around you know what you are doing.
STAY ON THE LEFT
Do not cross the centre line. Always stay left of the centre line and remember the road is open to the public.
KEEP YOUR LINE
Maintain a straight line is essential when riding in a bunch.
ANTICIPATE
Always be ready for something to happen in the bunch, always keep your eyes about 3-5 riders ahead
SIGNAL HAZARDSIf you see a hazard which would affect the line or momentum of the bunch it is your responsibility to signal to following riders, with subsequent riders continuing the signal further down the group.
